Theater aan het Vrijthof: Solar Vlaar and Loek de Jongh – ATALANTA
9 Sept, 10 Sept
VR: 20.30 ZA: 14:40
Theater aan het Vrijthof

A satirical ode to dating programs, based on the myth “Atalanta’ in Ovid’s Metamorphoses.

Atalanta was abandoned as a baby by her father, because she was not a boy but a girl.

It is one of the reasons why Atalanta develops an extreme feminism. She completely renounces men, wants to remain a virgin forever and refuses to underachieve a man. The last thing she would want to do is join a dating show.

Coincidentally, it is precisely she who ends up there and we are included in the production process of this type of TV program that is loved by so many people. Is there a real one for her?

Pip Solar Vlaar (1997, Rotterdam) and Loek de Jongh (2000, Breda) are studying in their 3rd year directing and 2nd year scenography & costume design at the Toneelacademie Maastricht. They made this performance in 2 weeks in collaboration with Theater aan het Vrijthof and the Maastricht Theater Academy for the new city festival MAAS!
