Het Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw behoort tot de absolute top van big bands in Europa. Naast dat het orkest meer dan eeuw Nederlandse jazz toegankelijk willen maken voor nieuwe generaties, kijkt het graag vooruit en werkt samen met hedendaagse (jazz)musici uit alle windstreken. Het orkest won meerdere Edison Awards, o.a. voor het album Crossroads (2019), en speelde samen met solisten van wereldklasse, waaronder Chick Corea, Christian Scott en Joshua Redman. In 2022 bracht het orkest het album ‘Threnody’ vol composities van Jim McNeely, één van de meest vooruitstrevende componisten binnen de hedendaagse bigband jazz. Volgens de Volkskrant “Een bijzonder mooi bigbandalbum, zoals die helaas nog maar weinig gemaakt worden.”

Het Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw ging in Limburg op zoek naar talentvolle artiesten die het net even anders willen doen. Samen met Jodymoon, Ar-Jane, Martin Sillen, Yila en Absent Chronicles & Simon Pingen doken ze de repetitieruimte in om muzikale ideeën uit te wisselen en een bigband impuls te geven aan de muziek van deze artiesten uit allerlei genres en windstreken. Het resultaat is verrassend, gek, mooi, avontuurlijk en bijzonder!

The Jazz Orchestra of the Concertgebouw went to Limburg in search of talented artists who want to do things a little differently. Together with Jodymoon, Ar-Jane, Martin Sillen, Yila and Absent Chronicles & Simon Pingen they dove into the rehearsal room to exchange musical ideas and give a big band atmosphere to the music of these artists from all genres and corners of the world. The result is surprising, crazy, beautiful, adventurous and special!
